Its all about efficiency
As the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme application process closes, assessors have seen huge numbers of applications reaching a combined value of £1 billion. The funding will support the UK’s climate change goals by reducing carbon emissions in the public sector, the equivalent of taking nearly 45,000 cars off the road.
Also known as the Grant Scheme, the initiative will offer £1bn of grant funding to align with BEIS’ new mission and priorities, including tackling coronavirus, backing businesses, promoting innovation and addressing climate change. Created to encourage green investment, successful applicants will be investing in a number of areas from electrical to HVAC services and will be looking for experienced businesses to help them invest in the right technology.
Which energy efficient technology is eligible?
A very wide range of energy efficient technologies, including LED lighting, are eligible for the funding. However, there is also a significant effort being made to decarbonise heating systems. This means that regardless of the technology applicants choose to buy they will also need to provide a ‘heat decarbonisation’ plan or include an element of heating decarbonisation in their project.
